Body to Body Photographic Stories

The exhibition transcends traditional study categories such as “portrait,” “self-portrait,” “nude,” or even so-called “humanist photography.”

It reveals peculiarities, “photographic” ways of seeing, and makes visible connections between artists.

Common obsessions are discovered in their approach to the subject matter as well as their stylistic approaches. The exhibited images also raise questions about the photographer’s responsibility: how does photography contribute to the formation of identities and their visibility? How does it narrate individualities and the relationship with others? It represents a meeting point between two exceptional collections – the public one of the Musée national d’art moderne, Centre Pompidou, and the private collection of the collector and filmmaker Marin Karmitz.
